South Hills Multi-Organist Recital
Sunday, September 30, 2012 – 3:00 p.m.

Organists Benjamin Cornelius‐Bates,Nicholas Will, David Schaap, and Bryan Sable and Doug Starr from St. Paul’s will be playing their favorite organ works at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Each recitalist will play 10‐15 minutes on our wonderful Schantz organ.

 

Free-Will Offering will be taken.


Believe!
Sunday, October 14, 2012 – 3:00 p.m.

 “Believe” is a volunteer men’s vocal ensemble comprised mainly of members of the Christ UMC (Bethel Park) Chancel Choir. The group includes basses John Heisey, Bruce Klimcheck, and Jeff Nelson; tenors George Manos, Dick Slater, and St. Paul’s own Rich Williams, plus talented accompanist Debbie
Schneider. This program will feature an eclectic mix of musical styles, from spirituals to show tunes and from the ridiculous to the sublime!
 

A free will offering will be taken.


Jazz Conspiracy
Sunday, November 11, 2012 – 3:00 p.m.

 

The Jazz Conspiracy is a jazz-oriented ensemble comprised of Pittsburgh‐area musicians, whose main goal is to perform outstanding American music, from original big band charts to modern arrangements. This concert will feature the key big band composers, arrangers, and bands from the Swing to the modern era, and will feature Clarinetist Susanne Ortner-Roberts performing works of Artie Shaw.

Music for Brass, Organ and Percussion
featuring members of West Point US Military Band’s West Point Brass ensemble
Sunday, February 17, 2013 – 3:00 p.m.

 

 

Music for Brass and Organ and Percussion will feature two members of the West Point US Military Band’s West Point Brass‐ Staff Sergeant Bill Owens, Trumpet; and, Staff Sergeant Curtis Starr, Trombone. Accompanied by Douglas Starr, organ and Tommy Starr, percussion, the program will feature Aaron Copeland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man,” sonatas for organ and brass by Dario Castello, J. S. Bach transcriptions for organ, and brass and other works.

 

Admission Donation: $10


Choral Concert featuring the Kenyon College Choir
Thursday, March 7, 2013 – 7:00 p.m.

The Kenyon College Chamber Singers, conducted by Dr. Benjamin Locke, will be performing as part of Kenyon’s 2013 Spring Tour. The Chamber Singers, consisting of fifty‐four undergraduates chosen by competitive audition, is Kenyon’s premier touring ensemble. The group is noted for its versatility of vocal style and broad repertoire.

Singing City Concert
featuring St. Paul’s Chancel Choir, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra
and 3,000 singers from area church, civic, and university choirs

Saturday, April 20, 2013 – 7:30 p.m.
at the Petersen Events Center, University of Pittsburgh campus

The concert is entitled Singing City and will kick off a week-long Music for the Spirit Festival. The repertoire will feature the final movement of Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony and other works for choir and orchestra.

 

Tickets will be sold in advance. Details to follow.
